Raising money for three fantastic causes
The mission – A key motivation for Annasley as she goes through the inevitable highs and lows of this journey is the opportunity to raise money for four charities that have had an impact on her life.
Clocktower Foundation
With the military being a big part of Annasley's life, she has a personal connection with the Clocktower Foundation The Clocktower Foundation has allowed Annasley to kick start her campaign by partnering with Ocean Survivoar Challenge 2025. She am thrilled to be working alongside such a fantastic organisation and it also hits home for her in more ways than one!
The Clocktower Foundation mission is to support and improve the prospects of all members of our regimental family who are in need. It aims to advance the livelihood of all current and former serving personnel and to give support to initiatives which add to community cohesion.
In support of this it helps:
- Those who have been wounded in operation or training.
- The families and dependants of those killed in service.
- The families and dependants of serving soldiers.
- Providing ongoing education to enhance the prospects of those in service and to assist with resettlement.
MS Society
With friends and family members being affected by MS, Annasley has a huge drive to help raise money to allow more research into the causes and treatments of this autoimmune disease. She has volunteered at her local MS society and also seen the implications is has on other families and individuals. Not only this, but she has also become a yoga instructor and a mind-body coach, to facilitate the lives of those who suffer with autoimmune diseases, traumas and more.
Over 130,000 people live with multiple sclerosis in the UK. It’s different and unpredictable for everyone, making it hard to know how it’ll progress. To stop MS, they need to find ways to repair myelin, the protective coating around nerves, damaged in MS. To do this, they need to connect research from the lab right through to the clinic. The MS society funds ground breaking research and provides award winning support and information to those who have MS and the families affected by this.
Children in Need
Children in Need have made huge impacts in children's lives. Annasley understands the importance of mental, physical and emotional health for young children and young adults, as she used her sports for community and a space to belong. The world can be a worrying place and the past few years have been especially difficult for children and young people. We all know that challenges, uncertainty and pressure is weighing heavily on children and young people across the UK.
The pandemic had a big impact on their lives, many children and young people missed out on school and social activities which has affected their mental health. Now the cost of living crisis is making things even more difficult. Many children and young people are missing out on the basics and experiencing increased pressure, worry and uncertainty. All of these challenges can harm children and young people’s life chances and their ability to thrive.
- 91% believe that mental health is the biggest challenge facing children and young people today
- 93% believe that the situation regarding children experiencing mental health issues is only going to get worse
- 89% expect children will find it more difficult to access mental health support in the coming year
- 87% say that the proportion of children they support who are experiencing poor mental health is increasing
The Alnwick Garden
The Alnwick Garden is a breath-taking and evolving garden that continues to be for all.
Behind the scenes of the picturesque water features, Poison Garden, Labyrinth, and many other wonderful experiences, there is a hard-working charity that seeks to support those in our community who need it most. Using the proceeds from The Garden to maintain the site, and more fundamentally to deliver on our charitable objectives, The Alnwick Garden strive to reduce social isolation, improve well-being and support our most vulnerable community members.
Identified challenges in our local communities include increasing young people’s employment chances, drugs education and making positive choices for children and young people and supporting other organisations to create beautiful, mindful and sensory outdoor spaces for their beneficiaries. We also strive to reduce isolation and increase social networks for older people in our communities.

Transportation problem solved thanks to Eardisley Auto Services!
A huge thank you to Scott and his incredible team from Eardisley Auto Services for providing the Ocean Survivoar Challenge 2025 with a Jeep, which has changed the ball game for training and logistics. It is so special to have my local garage support me and it was so nice to meet the team!
EPRIBs and PLBs
When it comes to ocean rowing, having reliable emergency communication devices on board is absolutely crucial. Let me tell you about two key pieces of equipment that have been lifesavers in my own crossings: Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) and Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs). EPIRBs are designed to be your lifeline in life-threatening situations. If you’re ever in trouble, you can activate your EPIRB, and it will send a distress signal along with your boat’s location to search and rescue satellites.
Immersion suit
Having completed four Atlantic crossings, I understand firsthand the critical importance of safety at sea. One essential piece of safety equipment that I always emphasise is the immersion suit. These suits are designed to protect against the harsh conditions of the open ocean, offering thermal insulation and buoyancy that can be lifesaving in the event of an emergency.
BGAN system communications
Another essential piece of communication equipment for my solo ocean rowing crossing is the BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) system. BGAN is a satellite-based communication technology that provides reliable, high-speed internet connectivity and voice communication anywhere in the world. This system uses a compact, portable terminal that connects to geostationary satellites, enabling me to access the internet, send emails, and make voice calls even in the middle of the ocean.
Become part of the challenge...
Nothing is too small, everything goes towards the four great charities, Clocktower Foundation, Children in Need, MS Society, and Alnwick Gardens.
