Exploring the Wonders of the Ocean

The Ocean Survivoar Challenge – 500 Word Competition

Join Annasley Park as she embarks on her own exploration of rowing across the Atlantic Ocean. The winning story will be put on her website, carried with her on her journey and read out via voice note as a shoutout as she crosses. Not only this, but the winner will also receive an Ocean Survivoar mug and T-shirt as well as being able to meet her and True Blue post row. Runner up and 3rd place will also receive some Ocean Survivoar Challenge souvenirs.

Things to remember
Children (ages 7 – 12) can only submit one story each. There are very few rules on 500 Words but a few points to remember:

All the stories must:
Be 500 words or less (title is not included in the number)
Be written by an individual and not a group
Be a child’s own original idea
Be prose, not rap or poem
Hand written with a illustration on the front page

Stories must not:

Give any personal details of the child, including their name
Recount an historical event (but they can use a real person or historical character as a
source of inspiration)
Be created, written or developed by AI

All stories will be judged on the following criteria:
Characterisation
Plot
Originality
Enjoyment

The competition closing date will be on the 4th November 2024.
Entries can be posted to: Ocean Survivoar Challenge, C/O CS Comms Ltd., Cyber Quarter, Hursey Road, Hereford, HR2 6FP.

The judging panel will go through each individual story and the announcements of the winner, runner up and third place will be on the 29th November 2024.

It would be wonderful if you could share this page, or the PDF linked here.

Listen to this story “The Little Ocean” for some inspiration 🙂

Sharing my blogs and challenge would be a massive help :)
